Katie will use her own life experiences and relate them to her goal setting and overcoming obstacles discussion. Topics which Katie plans to discuss include overcoming adversities, having a positive attitude, determination, her mental approach to life and sport, SMART goals, and explaining the impact that goal setting has had on her throughout her career. With the use of video clips and a slide show, as well as encouraging active participation of her audience, Katie's presentation is delivered straight from the heart. Her friendly, yet intense approach helps her to get her message across in a manner that children can relate to, and she is a true inspiration and role model for these children.  

School Requirements: A lap top connected to a projector with sound, a DVD player is needed only if the lap top cannot play DVDs, a screen, a microphone, a display table, and 2 chairs.

Usually a Student Read this Introduction to Welcome Katie to your School:

Katie started her National Team career as a soccer player with the U-19 team; however in 2001 she chose to leave the sport of soccer in order to pursue her dream of playing hockey. Being selected as part of the prestigious Under-22 team in 2003 and 2004, Katie helped Canada win gold both years at the Air Canada Cup held in Germany.

Katie continued to progress and became a member of the women's national team in 2004. She has won gold medals at three Four Nations Cup tournaments (2004, 2005, & 2007), as well as a gold medal at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy. At the Olympic tournament, Katie tallied 4 goals and 1 assist, the most notable point being the game winning goal in the semi-final victory over Finland. She has also won a gold medal at the 2007 World Championships, which was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2008, Katie travelled to Harbin, China where she won a silver medal in the World Championships.  On January 3rd, 2010 Katie had the honor of carrying the Olympic Torch in her hometown of Thunder Bay. In September of 2013, Katie was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. .

In 2007, Katie graduated from Dartmouth College, an Ivy League Institution in Hanover, N.H.  In her four years at Dartmouth, Katie earned a B.A. in Psychology and is a certified elementary teacher. Katie is also the head instructor of the Katie Weatherston Hockey School, an all-girls hockey school which she founded in 2005.  She currently resides in Ottawa where she is a real estate agent.
