Awesome job Katie. I was very inspired, me being only 12 years old you have taught me a lot about not giving up. I really enjoyed the whole presentation, and you're a great role model to the younger kids at my school. I see SJS really enjoyed it. I later wrote about what I learned and I couldn't stop writing because I had so much to say! You were so good at speaking and I really enjoyed the slideshow also. Katie was one of the keynote speakers at the Staal Open RBC Executive Women's Day in Thunder Bay in July 2015. While it's obvious that Olympic athletes must set goals and go after them with a rock solid determination...with the adversities Katie faced throughout her hockey career it is amazing she fulfilled her dreams of making the Canadian Olympic Women's Hockey Team! Her talk hit on every emotion. It was funny, sad, shocking, very entertaining, and she spoke from the heart. The messages learned were very inspiring and can easily be taken from the hockey rink to the business boardroom or to life in general.
Katie Weatherston presented to our grade 7&8 students January 2014. The content of her presentation was a perfect lead up to the Olympics. Her presentation contained excellent information about her journey in Hockey, Setting short and Long term Smart Goals, the qualities and character traits that herself and the woman's Olympic team focused on to achieve their goal of winning an Olympic gold medal. She gave example of how to celebrate team success and deal with personal challenges and adversity. Her presentation had a great message and supporting media and video to enhance the student's experience. Students got to ask questions and see her various medals from the Olympics and world championships. I would definitely book her again since it was such a wonderful experience.
Katie, I'm so glad that I was volunteering at my sons' school the day you were there. Not only was I grateful to see the schools interest in having you attend and speak to the kids, I was also thankful that I was there to soak up what you had to say. I loved the SMART goals you shared as well as the honesty and opennes of your words. It really helps when kids (and adults) can relate to someone on, not just an experiential level, but an emotional level. That's where connections happen and the story and lesson stick. All the best!

Katie was sensational; she kept our students interested by explaining to them exactly what it takes to reach ones full potential. How to set goals and achieve them. A very valuable message in this day and age - of how to overcome adversity and how to develop solid character. A great big THANK YOU !
That was by far my favourite presentation ever! I enjoyed the entire presentation which is usually hard to do, most times I get bored but Katie kept it very interesting and controlled the audience extremely well. She made it fun and exciting and was very involved with everyone watching.
I would like to say thank you for a well done presentation. Hockey is a big deal in our community and having an olympic gold medalist in to tell their story was great! Skaha Lake Middle School really enjoyed and benefited from your presentation. Often professional athletes have a great story to tell but sometimes they struggle to tell it, epecially to younger audiences. Your presentation was interactive, entertaining and specifically had a great message. Your training as a teacher certainly came through. As a principal, I have the opportunity to work with many at-risk students. I often now refer to your approach of "SMART" goals when encouraging students to make short and long term goals as a tool to becoming more successful in school. Thaks for presenting in our school.
The Katie Weatherston Motivational Speaking experience is a wise choice. Her experiences, while extraordinary, are also relatable to students and provide a strong message that hard work and determination can help overcome the greatest of obstacles. The visuals accompanied by her enthusiasm represent the “good person” Katie is, and reinforce a key element of developing success. Katie's team building strategies were immediately reflected into the classroom to develop positive attitudes towards common goals. It is clear from Katie's style and format of presentation that she is a natural educator. Her presentation is dynamic, informative and identifies key strategies for goal-setting in a developmentally appropriate manner. She linked current approaches for academic goal-setting to personal goal-setting through the use of SMART goals. Furthermore, students responded enthusiastically to her message regarding the importance of overcoming challenges and they felt empowered by her positive attitude as well as by her genuine, warm and consistent message: if you can dream it, you can do it! I received many favourable comments from staff and students who all said it was truly the most inspiring presentation they have attended. We plan on having Katie back again next year to reiterate this important message which, in my opinion, our young people need to hear far more frequently. I have had the privilege of watching Katie's presentations several times. I know that all the staff and students were engaged and inspired by her motivational presentations. Katie Weatherston does not solely focus on goal setting and the steps needed to achieve them, Katie also demonstrates and promotes virtues and values such as respect, honesty, faith, confidence, and self worth. Her personal experiences and stories teach students about determination, dedication, perseverance and overcoming obstacles. Katie is not only an incredible success story on the ice, her presentations prove that she is an exceptional humanitarian dedicated to serving and inspiring others to achieve their full potential
